As a result of murdering Abel, Cain was placed under a curse from the earth. That means that wherever Cain went upon the earth, the earth would make sure that he would experience misfortune. It did not matter where Cain went; he would not be able to hide from the curse. This principle of the curse continues today. Whoever murders someone is cursed for the rest of their lives.
